Who We’re Looking for

Position: vCFO/Fractional CFO
Company: OTUS Group
Type: Part-time Contract

Position Overview:
As a vCFO/Fractional CFO at OTUS Group, you will deliver expert financial leadership to our clients, guiding them through complex financial landscapes. This is primarily a remote role; however, some onsite client work will be required, necessitating access to a vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight: Review monthly internal financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure data integrity and identify areas requiring further analysis or action.
  • Strategic Financial Guidance: Distill complex financial information into actionable insights for management, enhancing decision-making processes.
  • Client Engagement: Conduct regular meetings with clients’ executive teams and periodic sessions with Audit Finance Committees to discuss financial matters and provide strategic advice.
  • Financial Planning: Collaborate with clients on the preparation of annual financial plans, including budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and revenue and expense projections.
  • Variance Analysis: Monitor revenue and expense variances against budgets, offering recommendations to address any discrepancies.
  • KPI Development: Establish and track financial KPIs to assess and improve clients’ financial health over time.
  • Banking & Financing: Conduct annual reviews of banking arrangements, negotiate financing if needed, and optimize banking fees while maximizing returns on investments within risk tolerance levels.
  • Year-End Coordination: Facilitate year-end activities with clients’ public accountants, including financial statement reviews and meeting attendance.
  • Infrastructure Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance clients’ financial management systems and processes.
  • Financial Coaching: Provide ongoing coaching and advisory services to clients as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professional accountant designation (i.e., CPA) in good standing.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior management or executive financial role.
  • Extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector and with registered charities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of an organization.
  • Expertise in cloud-based, paperless financial environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Access to a vehicle, cell phone, and laptop.

Job Title: Senior Accountant / Financial Analyst

Job Overview:

OTUS Group is seeking a talented Senior Accountant / Financial Analyst to join our team on a part-time contract basis. This role involves providing comprehensive accounting and financial analysis services to our clients, particularly within the not-for-profit, associations, and charities sectors. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in general accounting and financial analysis, with the ability to manage multiple sets of books and contribute to financial planning and strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting & Financial Management:
    • Manage full-cycle accounting tasks, including bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial reporting.
    • Prepare and review monthly internal financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Handle multiple sets of books simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate financial data entry and reporting.
    • Conduct variance analysis on revenue and expenses, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
    • Assist in the preparation of annual financial plans, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting:
    • Analyze financial statements and supporting documents to provide meaningful insights for client management.
    • Prepare financial KPIs and other performance metrics to help clients track their financial health and operational efficiency.
    • Support year-end processes, including preparing for audits and liaising with external auditors.
    • Assist in the preparation and presentation of financial reports for management and board-level meetings.
  • Process Improvement & Advisory:
    • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and improve operational efficiency.
    • Provide advice and guidance to clients on financial management best practices.
    • Assist with the migration of accounting systems to cloud-based platforms like QuickBooks Online (QBO) when required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis roles.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50, and Excel (including advanced functions such as pivot tables).
  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector, including knowledge of specific accounting requirements and compliance.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and experience with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Experience working with Auditors, Finance Managers, and external payroll providers (e.g., Payworks, ADP).
  • Familiarity with working in cloud-based, paperless environments.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Access to a vehicle, cell phone, and laptop for remote and occasional onsite work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and/or Sage Advisor.
  • Experience with QBO apps (e.g., Dext), Telpay, and XLGL plugin for Sage 50.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
