Land Acknowledgement
Ottawa is situated on the traditional, unceded, and unsurrendered territory of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation, whose presence here dates back to time immemorial. The Algonquin people have been the customary keepers and defenders of the Ottawa River watershed and its tributaries. We honour their longstanding stewardship of this land and acknowledge their enduring contributions to this region.
We also recognize that our work extends across many regions in Ontario, including Toronto, Oakville, and the surrounding areas. These communities lie within the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Huron-Wendat, and other Indigenous nations. These lands are covered by multiple treaties, including Treaty 13 and the Williams Treaties, and remain home to diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
We extend our respect and gratitude to all Indigenous peoples across these territories—past, present, and future—who have lived on, cared for, and protected these lands for generations. We honour their cultures, traditions, and contributions, and we recognize the lasting and ongoing impacts of colonialism.
As a team working with nonprofits throughout Ontario, we are committed to learning from Indigenous perspectives, fostering reconciliation, and supporting meaningful relationships rooted in mutual respect, accountability, and understanding.
